Magnus studied Chemistry at the Leibniz University of Hannover, Germany. During his master thesis, he performed research on novel metal-catalyzed cycloaddition reactions under the guidance of Prof. Paul A. Wender at Stanford University. In 2013, Magnus started his doctoral studies with Prof. Tanja Gaich (University of Constance) working on the synthesis of indole alkaloids and indolophane structures via Witkop photocyclization. Since February 2017, Magnus is a DFG postdoctoral scholar in the Sarpong group working on the total synthesis of diterpenoid natural products.
