Danilo Pereira de Santana
Danilo was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and obtained his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). During that time he discovered that his greatest interest was in the chemical aspects of drugs and decided to pursue a Master's degree in Natural Products Chemistry at the same university. Danilo then went on to receive a Ph.D. in cotutelle between the State University of Campinas-SP, Brazil (UNICAMP) and the National Graduate School of Chemistry, Montpellier, France (ENSCM) in 2014 under the supervision of Profs Luiz Carlos Dias and Jean-Marc Campagne working on the total synthesis of Tautomycetin. In 2015 Danilo decided to move to Berkeley and join the Sarpong group to study the total synthesis of prenylated indole alkaloids.
