Alexander was born in Nowotroizkoje (Kazakhstan) but moved to Germany at the age of 3. He received his Bachelors degree at
the University of Heidelberg under the guidance of Prof. Bunz where he synthesized sterically encumbered mini-dendrimers. In 2014, for
his Master studies, he decided to move to LMU Munich. In the group of Prof. Trauner his research was focused on photoswitchable microtubulin
inhibitors. In 2015, Alexander decided to take half an year off to go to work for Prof. Sarpong at Berkeley.
