Alexandre Ghaffari-Savari

Alexandre "Gaffi" Ghaffari-Savari, was born in the famous and peaceful city of Epinay sur Seine, near Paris. He knew at a very early age that his vocation was chemistry when he got a microscope and a chemistry set from his very kind parents, with which he started to mix all of the household products that he could find. After high school, "Big Al" went to the Pierre & Marie Curie University, Paris, where he got his Bachelor's degree in chemistry in 2004. During his first year in the university's Master's program, a chance encounter nearly changed the course of Big Al's future. While taking an afternoon stroll down the Champs-Elysses, Alexandre was spotted by a recruiter for the French national basketball team. Big Al, standing over two meters in height, was flattered by the invitation to join the team and soon traded his morning column-flashing for morning hoop-shooting. Unfortunately, his teammates were intimidated by his superior intellect and Big Al did not feel welcome. Deciding to return to chemistry, Alexandre traveled to the U.S. to complete a three month rotation at the University of California, Berkeley, where he may be seen daily (shoulders down at least) inside his hood, which is arguably the most organized hood in Latimer.
