Research Interests

Surface and Interface Physics: homoepitaxy and heteroepitaxy of metals and semiconductors; atomic and electronic structure; tribology; self-assembly; metal/semiconductor interface; gas/fullerene interface.

Surface Dynamics: dynamics of gas-surface interaction; chemisorption; etching and roughening; relaxation and reconstruction.

Semiconductors: vacuum and aqueous surface chemistry; atomic-scale manipulation of surface chemical, electrical, and mechanical properties.

Micromachining and Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS): surface and interfacial phenomena, surface engineering, material integration.

Biomaterials: in vivo surface chemistry; material properties of bioglasses, calcium phosphate ceramics, and titanium-based metals.
