Ongoing projects in the Saykally group include synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy of liquids and their surfaces, nonlinear optical laser spectroscopy studies of complex processes at liquid interfaces, terahertz laser spectroscopy studies of water clusters, associated with the development of a "universal first principles" model for water in all its forms, and the development of novel methods for characterizing solid/liquid interfaces.
