Will Hudson grew up outside Atlanta, GA and attended Princeton University, graduating in 2005. At Princeton he worked in the lab of Assistant Professor Stefan Bernhard and earned an A.B. in chemistry with highest honors. His undergraduate thesis concerned the synthesis and characterization of transition-metal complexes with applications in OLEDs and water-splitting. For his work, he received the Malcolm H. Chisholm Thesis Prize and the Edith and Martin B. Stein Solar Energy Innovation Award. Will is currently a second-year graduate student in the Berkeley Chemistry Department, and he is jointly advised by Rachel Segalman and Professor of Chemistry and Materials Sciences, Paul Alivisatos. He studies block copolymer-nanoparticle composite materials with the ultimate goal of making thin-film photovoltaic devices. In addition to chemistry, Will likes to swim, surf, and enjoy the wonders of California.
