Segalman Group: Self-Assembly of Functional Polymers

The Segalman lab incorporates 2000 ft^2 of laboratory space including small molecule, polymer, and anionic synthesis, polymer characterization, thin film alignment, and nanostructural characterization tools including:

DI Multimode SPM:
AFM imaging, EFM, and Heat stage.
Asylum AFM:
AFM imaging, Optical Microscope, EFM, and Bio/Polymer Heater
Molecular Imaging STM:
Molecular Electrical and Thermopower measurements
250 MHz Superconducting Magnet:
Alignment of Polymeric Nanostructures
Ellipsometer:
Single and double layer film thickness measurements (633 nm wavelength)
Optical Microscope:
Digital image capture at the micron lengthscale at temperatures up to 300 C
High Vacuum Oven:
Oven under 10^-6 Torr for annealing polymers at elevated temperatures.
Viscotek GPC system:
Measure polymer molecular weights in organic or aqueous conditions using RI, UV, LS, Viscometer detection
