I am currently developing the design of an automated micro-fluidic instrumentation for amino acid detection in collaboration with Jim Scherer. The purpose is the search for signs of extraterrestrial life on Mars: The miniaturized biochemical analysis system would be flown to the planets (e.g.Mars) for in situ experimentation.
The project is interdisciplinary involving design, optics, data acquisition, control, and micro-fluidics.
