Holiday Party Update

• On Friday Dec. 4 in 775 Tan
• Poster made by Sarah
• Asking for $5 donations from everyone to help with costs
• Budget is currently around $1000 if we use all of our yearly budget
• Hoping for $300-$400 for alcohol (wine and beer)
• Need help:
  • Putting up flyers (already in lab boxes) - elevator (key from Carol)
  • Melissa will help get food
  • Biggest deal is help on the day of to help set up - starting at 4pm (all of GSAC will help out)

Funding - Grad Life Fund

• Prioritize spending of donations
• Areas:
  • Speakers, colloquium (part of professional development)
  • Promote social interactions between labs (softball, kegs, holiday parties) [1]
  • Professional development (fellowship application process, speakers, networking, workshops, alumni events) [2]
  • Recruitment [4]
  • Volunteer opportunites - Outreach [5]
  • Resources: Lounge [3]

Grill

• Current grill is barely working
• Use graduate student life fund
• Look to spend

Donations

• Rocio and Mindy Rex will give us a list of recent alumni from our department and contact info (target last ten years)
• Disperse names through lab reps and have each lab contact old members

Company donations

• Contacting undergrad Aiche about local company contacts
• Try to get sponsored receptions for spring speaker series

Spring funding applied for (GA)

• Jan. 29, Feb. 26 for cheme kegs

• Bruce Alberts is not available for the spring
