From phone conversation with Daraka (UAW VP of California)

According to the contract, a formal response to the Step 2 meeting is required within 15 days of the meeting. This did not occur because of vacation and the desire from the department to have an informal settlement. The UAW agreed to an extension.

The informal offer is:

• No back pay for students
• Pay for UAW dues and fees
• Agreement to abide by the contract in the future

The UAW is discussing the offer and will continue to have meetings with Labor Relations. The biggest issue is back pay and for how many semesters it should be given.
