- No faculty member recruited yet
- Goal for end of September - after advisor presentations
GSI payment
- Will be discussed at faculty retreat on Friday - policies for future
- University has not responded yet - a rep was out of town
- The UAW contact person changed as well
Colloquium
- In the past, GSAC has invited speakers
- David Schaffer is coordinator for this fall - possibly Maboudian for the spring
- May be limited in funding from the department to bring in a speaker
- The Berkeley Lecture is this fall, which will not cheap
- Will be topic at retreat also
Prelims
- Design part has been dropped.
- Transport, Thermo, and Kinetics/reactions
- Design type questions can be asked in any exam
- Handbook is being updated
Qual
- Will be discussed at faculty retreat on Friday
- Limit number of power point slides
- Possibly reports get graded/approved before oral is scheduled
- May change requirements for when you take the exam
- Comments welcome on how QE is currently run (Talk to Graves before Friday)
Required Courses
- Proposal to reduce the number of required ChemE courses (possibly 3 or 2)
- Proposal to make electives more flexible
- Maybe make courses shorter (modular) - like chemistry
