The College of Chemistry Demo Lab employs currently enrolled
undergraduate students for part-time student staff positions.
Positions in the Demo Lab
ARE
expected to be available beginning
Fall Session 2007 (FL2007),
possibly continuing through graduation.
When we are ready for applicants, a JVL (Job Vacancy Listing) will be posted at:

Requirements and duties are described in the JVL. Briefly:
- Completion of Chem 1A or 4A at UCB is essentially required.
Applicants with equivalent course work may be considered, but having seen the demonstration experiments in class is a strong asset.
- The duties are generally to assist (at a skill and experience level appropriate to satisfactory completion of Chem 1A at UCB) with the acquisition, assembly, delivery, performance, recovery, repair, calibration, cleaning, and disposal of materials used in chemistry lecture experiments.
Operations of rotating lecture stage, video camera, and computers are regularly assigned.

- Chemistry courses completed (where taken - include name of Prof.)
- Brief descriptive title of ALL jobs and volunteer positions you have held
(sales clerk, bulldozer operator, nurse's aide, neurosurgeon, crop duster,
cook, journalist, baby-sitter, tutor, house painter, waitron, CEO, etc.)
- List all times you can work that match the TAN or RED
blocks indicated in the
FL2007
or appropriate
schedule(s) - even if there is a name already printed in the schedule.
- Of these potential work blocks, indicate any preference in work times and minimum and maximum total number of hours per week you want to work. We try to avoid work begin and end times that coincide with class begin and end times.
- State in your contact that you have read this web page and the web pages mentioned above
An in-person interview and oral exam is required. Bring a copy of the JVL for the interview. The usual identification materials will be required for new-hire processing.
