MEDIA NOTES: Apparatus will be at location 1. Ringstand holding torch, hydrogen cylinder, Bunsen burner. Experimenter will hold platinum plate in tongs, heating in flame, then approaching torch. Tight shot to include all of platinum plate, torch if practical. Decrease lighting to total darkness as plate begins to glow red, then ignites hydrogen. Repeats several times. Leave lighting all off until lights up requested.

Place ringstand with torch, Bunsen burner, porcelain plate, tongs, Pt plate, at location 1.
Heat Pt plate in flame to just red.
Allow to cool a little. Set hydrogen flow to just audible.
Hold Pt plate in hydrogen stream about 4 inches from torch tip at 45 degr. angle to gas flow.
Arrange for best camera shot.
When flame ignites, turn off hydrogen momentarily, then restore hydrogen flow for re-light.
