DEMO: A balloon filled with hydrogen gas is ignited with a flame. The
balloon explodes in a fireball as the reaction proceeds
DEMO: A second balloon filled with hydrogen and oxygen in a stoichometric
ratio is ignited with a huge boom
DEMO: Soap bubbles of H2 and O2
DEMO: 22.4 liter cube and show size with hands
DEMO: 55Moles of carbon, lead water aluminum. Same number of particles,

DEMO: propanol is mixed with water. A rag is soaked and ignited. The
propanol burns off in a (cool) flame that does not burn the towel
DEMO:

DEMO: (Sec 3) the class wears diffraction glasses and looks at a white light source. (diffraction grating glasses, point light source)
DEMO: (Sec 1,2,3) a red laser is shown through a two slit pattern and the light and dark diffraction pattern is observed on a screen. (2-slit laser diffraction)
DEMO: (not done) Two students are asked to behave like waves with the same frequency by raising a hand up and down in unison. They then are asked to ‘travel’ a certain distance (the instructor pulls them along on a wheeled chair).
DEMO: (Sec 1,2,3) Colored solutions are put into the path of light diffracted into component colors. (assorted solutions for color filters)
DEMO: (Sec 3) The class wears blue/red ‘3D’ glasses to view this topographic picture and pictures of molecules. (anaglyph glasses, 3-D images, CuSO4 solution in museum jar)
