Tim received his B.S. in chemistry from UC Berkeley in 2011, where he synthesized dendrimers for self-healing hydrogels and nanoparticle-ligand conjugates for photovoltaic cells in Prof. Jean M.J. Fréchet's laboratory. He received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Columbia University in 2016, where he worked with Prof. Colin Nuckolls to develop silicon- and germanium-based single-molecule wires and conductance switches. Tim returned to Berkeley in 2016 and joined the Chang lab, where he is developing targeted therapeutics for treating metal ion dysregulation. Outside of chemistry, Tim enjoys all things related to basketball, reading graphic novels, hanging out with his dog Ernie, and generally being outside.
