Research: Dehydrogenation of Light Alkanes to Alkenes by PtSn/Hydrotalcite Catalyst
Interests: Hiking, skiing, movies, travel, shopping
The project is funded by Chevron. The global objective of the project is to study the generation and consumption of hydrogen, collectively referred to as hydrogen management, on high-surface area, two-dimensional materials. Double layered hydroxide, hydrotalcite, was synthesized by coprecipitation method, and characterized by XRD, BET, ICP, SEM, and TG-DSC. The surface structure of Pt and Sn on support after incipient wetness and impregnation was also studied by XAFS, TEM and H2/CO chemisorption. The catalysis mechanism of dehydrogenation reactions by bimetallic PtSn on hydrotalcite support will be studied.
