Candidate Profile
- Must be either a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. for the NIGMS fellowships.
- Applicant must possess strong undergraduate/ graduate GPA and GRE scores.
- Applicant must be in the laboratory of one of the participating PIs at UC Berkeley.
- Applicant must demonstrate a strong interest and research potential in biomolecular science and/or engineering.
Student Application Process
- Become nominated by your graduate advisor.
- Submit your curriculum vitae, a list of courses taken to date, and any publications to date.
- Submit a letter of recommendation from your advisor and from a second professor.
- Your application will be evaluated by a committee of training grant principal investigators.
Timeline
In general, positions on the training grant open when current trainees graduate or for any other reasons leave the training program. Principal investigators are notified when positions open up so that they can nominate new trainees. However, at any time you can feel free to contact the training grant director, Prof. David Schaffer.
